Leave it to Liebster

Saturday, April 11, 2015

Beckie of The Sussex Girl, my new UK blogger friend, graciously nominated a few other bloggers and I for the Liebster Award. This is a way of showing new bloggers support! So thank you Beckie as well as to my other readers for being supportive as I take this journey through being a blogger.

The rules
1) Each blogger should answer the questions the tagger has set for you. 2) Choose new bloggers with less than 200 followers to pass the award on to and link them in your post. 3) Create 11 new questions for the chosen bloggers. 4) Go back to their page and tell them about the award. 5) Each blogger should post 11 new questions for their nominees and let them know about the award!

Beckie's 11 questions

1.) What is your favourite way to travel?
By airplane because I love seeing everything from an aerial view. The oceans are just so blue and the lands are often covered with green or silver depending what city you pass over!

2.) Why did you start your blog?
Started my blog as somewhere to post my style along with my travels and hopefully to expand to books and foods that I enjoy!

3.) What's your favourite way to spend a Saturday?
When the sun is out, I very much enjoy just walking around new places that I haven't been to before! There's just something about being exploring that I want to do more of!

4.) What two things would you save from your belongings in a disaster?
My 2 sentimental items from Glenn.

5.) Do you have siblings?
One little sister. (she's actually 19 as of last Oct)

6.) Pick a language to learn and tell why you chose it.
My mom's dialect -- Fuzhounese so I can tell her to simmer down with her loud voice when she's "talking" aka screaming haha

7.) What would you say is your go-to dish in the kitchen.
I make ramen real good with my poached egg skills & boiled broccoli.

8.) What's your favourite quote?
I don't have a favourite one that resonates with me, to be honest.

9.) What was your favourite TV show from your childhood?
Boy Meets World was one of them! There were so many good shows back in the day!

10.) Heels or flats?
Definitely a flats kinda gal. I prefer comfort and being closer to the ground as possible, especially since I can be pretty clumsy.

11.) Goals for 2015?
Find a home with Glenn & be appreciate of life!

Questions for my Nominees
1.) If you won the 600 million Powerball jackpot, what would be the first thing you do?
2.) What do you love living in your hometown?
3.) If you could switch lives with anyone, who would it be and why?
4.) Would you rather know when you are going to die so you can do anything you want to do or just live your life without knowing when and go with the flow?
5.) What would you wear on your last day on earth?
6.) Do you collect anything?
7.) Musically, who influences you?
8.) Sweet or savory?
9.) What do you splurge on?

Dining on Style Travels: Orlando, Florida

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Long overdue photos from our trip to Orlando, Florida during the April of last year. Stayed at the wonderful Villas of Grand Cypress for the 2nd time and boy, it was just as good as the first! Definitely would recommend the hotel. It is right outside the center of the magic.

First day, wore something easy going and comfortable as we lounged by the pool/hot tub and walked around the area. Met some new friends by cave -- some lizards. Yes, they all hung out with us as we sat there relaxing. It was quite enjoyable.

Second day, we took a trip to Magic Kingdom and Epcot since these 2 theme parks have things to do for us adults. Although, I am still a kid at heart!

Magic Kingdom is where we saw a parade going on, wandered around until we saw the Cinderella Castle, and ate dole whip from Aloha Isle. That was my favorite part of Magic Kingdom, alone. LOL. What is dole whip? It is glorious pineapple soft serve! Sooooo good!

Epcot is basically seeing the world in one park. Put this on the itinerary if you want to experience different cultures all in 1 spot. While looking up which theme parks to go to, I settled on this one because there is thing called "Drinking around the World", which is a challenge that aims at having a drink from each of the 11 countries in 1 day. We aren't big drinkers but I thought it would be fun to travel the world here and try a drink or two!

In this pic, I'm holding the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit from Germany in front of Japan! Haha, I crossed a border (or more) and hopped right to Japan! Brought a lil bit of NYC via my map too because Florida weather can be spotty sometimes. Rain one hour then sunny the next.

It was also the Flower and Garden Festival at the time we were visiting which was so beautiful to see! It's almost like the Macy's flower show during the winter time but we get to see it at the happiest place on earth -- Disney World!!

Last day was us chilling by the pool again, wandering the resort and just enjoying the last days in Orlando. Wore this outfit, which by far is my favorite. The floral bustier has subtle hits of yellow and blue, which the sweater and shorts brought out even more. Can you believe I only got that bustier for $10 at Buffalo Exchange? Love me a good sale.

Since this was a quick getaway trip for us, we didn't want to do so many things because that can get expensive. Trips are definitely a great way to rekindle with each other because for some couples like us, it's hard to see each other every day because we live so far from each other. We are looking for our next trip, any ideas?

Book Review: Love, Lashes, and Lipstick

Sunday, January 25, 2015

As an avid bookworm back in the day, my love for reading has revived yet again out of nowhere this past year!  I am a sucker for anything historical fiction but am always opened to any books.

Now, when Birchbox first introduced their Book Club back in May 2014, I got super excited! If you don't already know, Birchbox is a subscription service that mails you samples of highly raved items. I'm sure most of you out there already know what it is. If not, check them out!

Anyway, each month they come out with a book of the month and for the month of January, it was Mally Roncal's Love, Lashes, and Lipstick. I have heard of Mally Beauty but never knew what the story behind the brand was about.

The book serves as a life guide, autobiography, and beauty lessons all jumbled into one! Mally is one Filipina with so much determination who makes her late momma proud through her passion -- makeup.

It's a great guide for women to love themselves, be proud of who they are, and learn that everyone has a path to success.

Mally acts as a mentor and teaches that we all make a difference in this world, in some shape or form. After reading, it made me think about my life and what I want to achieve. I have so many passions/dreams but am so afraid to take that leap. It's scary to be out of your comfort zone. With that said, I will leave you with a question by Mally in her book.

"What is your all? What do you want? What will fulfill you as a human being?"

Financial compensation was not received for this post. This book was gifted from Birchbox for a randomly select number of Birchbloggers. Opinions expressed here are my own.
